The successful candidate will split work between the laboratory, greenhouse and in the field. Duties include but are not limited to:
Preparing and testing potato seed for planting;
Collection of plant growth data and tissue samples;
Process plant tissue samples for analysis in the laboratory;
Collate and analyze collected data;
Protocol development and troubleshooting.
The Lethbridge Research and Development Center (LeRDC) is located in Southern Alberta. The successful candidate will be working with the Potato Health research program based at LeRDC. The focus of the project will be on evaluating treatments to minimize the effects of severe weather events on potato production.

Education:
Currently enrolled/or willing to enrolled by the date of the appointment in a Master’s program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in:
• Agronomy;
• Agricultural Sciences;
• Plant Sciences;
• Biology;
• Bio-ecology Technology
• Bioscience Technology;
• Environmental Sciences;
• A related science program or other related fields.
Experience:
Experience* in plant biology
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
