Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position in Edmonton, Alberta.

A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate, term or acting basis.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION

• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience leading the development, management, and assessment of programs, projects and/or initiatives related to alternative measures, restorative justice, mental health and/or social supports.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with internal or external clients or stakeholders.
• Experience providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.**
**Senior management is defined as the EX-01/ Officer level and above.
• Experience developing and delivering program training and/or information sessions.

EDUCATION

• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.*

*An acceptable combination is defined as successful completion of secondary school with a minimum of two years of related experience AND a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in developing policies and procedures.
• Experience managing human and financial resources
• Experience in researching complex issues and identifying creative and innovative solutions to presented challenges.
* Complex issues is defined as those involving multiple stakeholders, frames of reference and sources of information.
• Recent* experience in engaging with partner organizations and stakeholders on intergovernmental working groups or with community groups, advocacy programs and/or social agencies on complex law enforcement and/or community issues.
*Recent experience means experience gained within the last two (2) years.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required.
• Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and /or graphic material.
• Willingness and ability to maintain a valid driver's license, or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes, using various modes of transportation.
