The projected start date is April 1, 2023 with an end date of March 31, 2026 (or depending on the candidate's availability or needs). It is expected that the student will work 18-22 hours per week with possibilities of part-time extensions.
$22.71 to $34.59 per hour (Varies as per level of education and experience.)

Duties

Carrying lab experiments related to fungal isolation, inoculation.
Molecular work, greenhouse and field work including various bioassays and molecular type of work.
Drafting results, writing manuscripts and presentations.

Work environment

The candidate will work in a laboratory, greenhouse and field environment.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a Master’s or PhD program at the University of Alberta with specialization in: Plant Pathology, Crop Science or a related field.

Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date) and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.

Degree equivalency

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Experience:
Experience working with fungal plant pathogens and basic molecular biology.
Experience working in research environment, collecting, summarizing and presenting results of scientific research.
