EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:
Experience providing technical support in research and planning and conducting experiments in laboratory, greenhouse, growth chamber or field environments.
Experience collecting, processing, and analyzing samples.
Experience collecting, organizing, summarizing and communicating scientific data, including the use of basic computer software, such as word processors, spreadsheets, email and software for storage and manipulation of data.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of current farming practices relevant to the Canadian Prairies.
Knowledge of laboratory practices, methodologies and tools/equipment as they relate to agricultural and/or biological research.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in plant science, biology, natural resources, agriculture or a field relevant to the position being staffed.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience operating small plot research equipment, such as tractors, plot seeders, plot combines and tillage implements.
Experience with irrigated field and/or horticultural crops.
Experience carrying out plant pathology experiments under laboratory, greenhouse/growth chamber and/or field conditions.
Experience using bioinformatics tools.
Experience using laboratory techniques as they relate to molecular biology and/or genomics.
Experience in plant germplasm conservation or plant breeding.
Experience with manual or automated greenhouse gas sampling systems.
Experience in supervision and training of others in laboratory, greenhouse or field skills.
Experience using equipment for chemical analysis, such as liquid chromatography systems, gas chromatographs or mass spectrometers.
Experience using equipment for seed quality analysis, such as nitrogen analyzers, NMR spectrometers, mucilage analyzers or near-infrared spectroscopy systems.
Experience contributing to the preparation of research reports, technical bulletins, posters and scientific manuscripts.
