The Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.
This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates. This pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.1
1 Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.
Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing, or processing mail.
Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.
Experience using a personal computer and word processing and spreadsheet software.
Experience in detachment related court duties
Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.
Experience working with the provincial court system
Training and/or experience in providing financial support services such as the collection and recording of monies received, handling petty cash funds, verifying supplier invoices, preparing invoices.
Experience in maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Police Reporting Occurrence System (PROS) or Canadian Police Information (CPIC).

Valid Class 5 driver’s license or the personal mobility normally associated with a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
RCMP Reliability Status security clearance.
