IRB's main office is situated in Ottawa, Ontario currently located on Slater Street, near a shopping centre, bike paths, a walking trail, and restaurants and shops nearby. Parking is readily available at a relatively modest monthly fee, and local transit stops a few short steps from our doors. IT PPG is only a short walk to the parks surrounding Parliament Buildings, with walking trails and bike paths, as well as simple transit access for those coming from Gatineau.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar positions with various tenures (indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, secondment or assignment) within the IRB.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:

Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Notes:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be reassessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• Experience researching, compiling or validating IT information, managing content in repository tools

• Experience contributing to, or writing and developing procedures, reports, correspondence or documentation.

• Experience supporting the development or maintenance of work processes, policies, strategies, standards, and frameworks related to IT activities.

Education:

• Recognized certification in Project Management, Business Analysis, ITIL, or another relevant domain. (A certification in-progress is acceptable.).

Degree equivalency

Experience:

• Experience writing or contributing to documentation (such as: business requirements, business cases, option analysis, project plans, risk analysis, etc.).

• Experience preparing or contributing to IT-related briefings, presentations, and background papers to management, clients, and key stakeholders.

• Experience collecting or documenting IT requirements for IT planning and investment planning purposes
