POSITION LOCATION:
This position is located in Toronto; however, the successful candidate may work from one of the OSFI offices across Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver).

Duties

Overview of Duties:

OSFI is seeking to fill a Senior Director position to lead its Non-Financial Risk (NFR) supervision group.

You will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, senior management direction and operational oversight of OSFI’s supervisory and regulatory mandate as it pertains to federally regulated financial institutions (FRFIs) in areas of NFR practice and supervision. The NFR supervision group is comprised of three (3) divisions, as professional risk specialists in the Technology Risk Division, Operational Risk Division, and the Culture & Compliance Risk Division.

Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent, Policy Innovation & Stakeholder Affairs, the Senior Director is responsible for:
• leading the implementation of NFR business plans and priorities to identify and assess key NFR issues and trends that impact FRFIs;
• providing strategic leadership in advancing the nature and intensity of ongoing NFR supervision work within OSFI’s Supervisory Framework and, in turn, contributing to public confidence in the Canadian financial system;
• leading a team of non-financial risk supervision specialists and actively developing, coaching and managing Managing Director level staff;
• providing guidance, senior management direction and operational oversight on a portfolio of projects and initiatives related to the NFR or PISA Sector mandate;
• providing strategic advice to Senior Management and OSFI Executives;
• developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal OSFI colleagues and key external stakeholders (i.e. national and international standard setters and regulators, financial institutions, industry associations); and
• leading, influencing and executing in a challenging and changing environment.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION
• Degree from a post-secondary institution with specialization in business, commerce, economics, finance, mathematics, risk management, actuarial science, law, accounting or other relevant field OR an acceptable combination of relevant professional industry experience and education

Degree equivalency

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE
• Recent* and significant** experience in the financial services industry*** in a business risk function, second line control function, or internal audit at the executive level
• Recent* and significant** experience advising senior executives and Board of Directors on financial and/or non-financial risks relating to financial services industry
• Significant** experience at the executive-level in managing human resources, finances, and planning for a diverse team of professional and technical specialists****
