What is the Policy Officer Recruitment Programme (PORP)?
The PORP is a three-year on-the-job professional development programme designed to recruit and develop talented individuals to meet the unique demands of the defence policy environment and become well-rounded public servants. In addition to three one-year assignments across the Policy Group, a practical, three-year curriculum will round-out your academic experience and help you hone your skills in areas like writing in a professional context, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures in the Department of National Defence (DND), with various linguistic and security profiles.

EDUCATION:
ED1: Graduation* with a Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field related to the duties of the position**.
AND
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization*** in economics, sociology or statistics.
*Candidates currently completing a Master's degree will be considered. They must demonstrate they are able to complete all the requirements of their current studies program to obtain their Master's degree by 31 July 2023.

Ability and willingness to travel, including to deployed Canadian Armed Forces operations.
For some positions, ability and willingness to work overtime frequently and on short notice.

Willingness to be assigned to various divisions in the organization based on operational requirements and developmental needs.
