Assessment accommodation

Duties

Management of technical services related to housing and realty assets under a Housing Services Centre (HSC), including project and contract management, program development, planning, implementation, quality assurance, and the resolution of technical problems affecting the HSC’s operations and service delivery.

As a Special Operating Agency reporting to the Department of National Defence (DND), CFHA contributes to the quality of life of CAF members and their families through the provision of housing services, and through the responsible and sustainable management of the Department’s housing infrastructure. We are a team of 330 federal public servants who work hard to meet the needs of the Canadian Armed Forces families living in DND housing. We have close to 220 employees at our Housing Services Centres across Canada and 110 employees at our Head Office in Ottawa.

The CFHA Edmonton team works in unison to provide housing services to over 500 Canadian Forces families at Edmonton Garrison. Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one English essential EG-04 position and one anticipated English essential EG-05 position, on an indeterminate basis. This process will only be used to staff positions at Housing Services Center Edmonton, and no pool will be established for staffing at other locations.

EDUCATION (EG-04 and EG-05):
• A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note).

Note - The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
-A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
-An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE (EG-04 and EG-05):
• Experience conducting inspections and determining maintenance requirements of residential or commercial properties.
• Experience in property/facility maintenance or project management.
• Experience in contract management.
• Experience in supervising a team.

EXPERIENCE (EG-05 ONLY):
• Experience in the management and planning of human and financial resources.
• Experience engaging and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

ASSET EXPERIENCE (EG-04 and EG-05):
• Experience in major capital renovations.
• Experience in planning annual and multi-year realty asset programs.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (EG-04 and EG-05):
• Willing and able to travel.
• Willing and able to meet the occasional requirement to work in confined areas such as crawl spaces or at heights such as second storey roofs.
• There is a requirement to limit vacation between the months of May and September.
• Willing and able to work overtime on an occasional basis.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (EG-04 and EG-05):
• Security: Reliability Status.
• A recent and acceptable driver’s abstract.
• A valid, unrestricted driver’s licence holding a qualification (class) equivalent to the DND vehicle to be driven/operated.
• Eligibility and willingness to obtain the DND 404 military driver's licence.
• To wear and/or utilize necessary clothing or equipment in compliance with safety regulations.
