The intent of this process is to staff one SE-REM-01 position on an indeterminate basis. The language requirements of this position are bilingual imperative CBC/CBC, however, if no successful candidate is found to meet the language requirements of this position, a non-imperative CBC/CBC appointment may be considered.
A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates may be established through this process to staff with identical or similar positions within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures, various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education
• Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of natural sciences related to the duties of the position (such as entomology, pathology, mycology or forest pest management), or the employer-approved alternative for the SE classification.
• The employer-approved alternative for the SE classification is an acceptable master’s or bachelor’s degree coupled with acceptable research, training and experience. The degree must be from a recognized post-secondary institution and in scientific fields and specialties related to the duties of the position. The training and experience must clearly demonstrate the ability to do personal research of doctoral degree calibre.
Experience
• Experience in managing pest management research projects, pest management science programs, or pest management operations
• Experience in representing a forest or natural resource-based organization at regional, national, or international meetings, working groups, conference, or other such fora
• Experience in consulting with, liaising, advising and presenting information to departmental and/or external groups on pest management science, pest management results, and/or pest management technology issues
• Experience providing briefings and recommendations to senior managers on complex issues, program activities, research, and/or analytical results
• Experience in managing teams, material, and financial resources
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)

• Knowledge of the major challenges facing forestry and forest pest management in Canada
• Knowledge of the federal government’s forest sector priorities and related science activities in the area of forest pest management
• Knowledge of forest entomology, forest pathology, and/or forest pest management
