Duties

Real Property Operations (Detachment Gagetown) maintains all infrastructure (buildings, roads, sidewalks, structures, air fields, etc) at CFB Gagetown. As an Engineer, you will be responsible for providing project management and engineering technical advice as required.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill one EN ENG 03 indeterminate position in Gagetown, NB.
This process may be used to staff the same or similar positions with various tenures, language or security requirements within DND.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
• Eligibility* for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

*The term "eligibility" for certification or membership in a professional association means that a candidate has met all academic and occupational requirements with respect to degrees, examinations, experience, etc. without having to have obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership.

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience* in project management through all stages of project delivery
• Experience* in managing multiple projects concurrently
• Experience* in the application of project risk management principles and business case analysis
• Experience* problem solving such as: problem definition, data collection, analysis and interpretation, as well as interpreting construction codes, regulations, standards and technical studies in formulating a solution
• Experience* in developing or assessing designs or providing technical design advice in an engineering specialty relevant to the position
• Experience* maintaining or constructing buildings and infrastructure, including planning, designing, and managing projects.

*Experience for this qualification is associated with having performed a broad range of related activities on a regular basis, which could normally be acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years in the last five (5 years).

ASSETS:
• Registered as a professional engineer (P.Eng) in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
• Experience in SAP PS (Project Systems) Module and the Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS).
• Experience working with the Department of National Defence.
• Experience working in a real property or infrastructure maintenance or asset management role.
• Experience working with the Project Approval Directive in the Department of National Defence.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness and ability to work overtime during the week or weekends, sometimes on short notice.
• Willingness and ability to occasionally travel in Canada.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

• Valid unrestricted provincial driver’s license
• Willing and able to obtain a DND 404 driver's license
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, scaffolding, work from heights, and work from boats or barges over open water
• Must be able to obtain and maintain P.Eng license and be a member in good standing of the respective provincial association of Professional Engineers
