Duties

We are recruiting for positions which will provide you with the opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge of the department and our programs and services. Our Programs and services include Employment Insurance (EI) benefits, Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Old Age Security (OAS), My Service Canada Account and National Student Loans Service Centre Account.

Training will be provided for all positions.

Here are just some examples of the potential opportunities and duties:

CR-03/CR-04 Clerk

Provide administrative support and general information to staff, clients and the public by telephone, in person or electronically.

PM-01 Officer

Payment Services Officers work directly with clients, in person or by phone, to provide guidance and assist Canadians on specific benefits. These officers perform a variety of different functions.

Integrity Services Officers inform clients of their Rights and Obligations specific to the type of benefits they are receiving, and conduct non-complex investigations to prevent, detect and address fraud.

You may be given the opportunity to perform various duties within a PM01 Officer role depending on operational needs.

PM-02 Officer

Integrity Services Investigators use their judgment, decision-making, client focus and information-gathering skills to ensure Canadians receive the government benefits for which they are eligible.

Citizen Services Specialists work with external service delivery partners and clients to build awareness of Service Canada’s benefits and services, including those citizens facing barriers accessing federal programs and services.

Program Officers promote and deliver social development and labour market programs in response to community needs and government priorities. This includes the assessment of applications for funding of grants and contributions and labour market assessments under the Temporary Foreign Worker program.

Service Canada Benefit Officers determine the eligibility of persons applying for government benefits and services. They gather information from claimants, employers and other interested parties and make decisions on eligibility and entitlement to benefits by applying applicable legislation, regulations and case law.

You may be given the opportunity to perform various duties within a PM02 Officer role depending on operational needs.

We intend to create a pool of qualified bilingual candidates for CR-03, CR-04, PM-01 and PM-02 to staff casual and/or term positions within Employment and Social Development Canada in the designated locations listed through this job advertisement. While we initially hire on a casual and/or term basis, we are committed to investing in employees and these opportunities can lead to permanent employment.

Education:
Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an
acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).

Education NOTE:
- A Secondary School Diploma refers to a High School Diploma.
- Equivalencies granted by provincial and/or territorial authorities (e.g. - General Education Development (GED), Adult Basic Education (ABE) which is a secondary school equivalent), will be accepted.
- A degree from a recognized* post-secondary institution will be accepted in lieu of a Secondary School Diploma.
*A recognized post-secondary institution includes those categorized as “recognized” as well as “authorized” by the Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC).
- The PSC Test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma is the Public Service Commission’s General Intelligence Test 320 (GIT-320).
- The acceptable combination will be evaluated by considering the highest level of education achieved and the depth and breadth of training and/or experience
accumulated in customer service and/or in an office setting.

Validation of Education, Security, Citizenship and/or Proof of Name Change (if applicable):

Candidates will be required to submit their proof of education documents at the time of assessment. If the name on your education credentials is different from the name on your application, we will require proof that you are the same person, e.g. a copy of a marriage certificate or a copy of proof of name change from a provincial Vital Statistics office or other approved documentation.
