As the coordinator of the Aids Program Information System (SIPA), you will be in charge of developing, implementing and monitoring a quality assurance program for data on aids to navigation, essential element to direct navigators into a safe harbour. You will also be responsible for developing and providing the training and technical support required for SIPA users, while ensuring that the required corrections and modifications are applied in accordance with the standards and procedures in effect. You will also be asked to respond to specific information requests and produce statistical reports, in addition to providing advice and recommendations to management in order to portray the performance of aids to navigation in the region.
🚢 The Canadian Coast Guard provides essential maritime services to ensure the safety of mariners, protect the marine environment, facilitate maritime commerce while ensuring Canada's sovereignty and security over its waters.
🚢 It is up to the Aids to Navigation program of the Canadian Coast Guard to provide fixed, floating and electronic aids in Canadian waters duly mapped in order to help mariners determine their position and course, to warn them of dangers or obstacles, or to advise them of the location of the best route for them.
📢 The immediate need is to fill a term position in Quebec City.
📢 A pool of candidates could be established from this process and may be used to staff similar positions within the Canadian Coast Guard in Montreal and Quebec City. These positions may be of different tenures, with various language requirements and various security requirements.

STUDIES
🎓 A high school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE
➤ Significant* experience with the use and services delivery associated with a data management or information management system;
➤ Experience in preparing statistical reports and presenting results in tabular and graphical formats;
➤ Significant* experience in the use of Microsoft Excel.
* In order for the experience to be considered significant, it must be of at least one year and understand complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.

➤ General knowledge of a database functioning and of the principles and practices related to its management and maintenance (integrity, accuracy, uniformity and quality of data).

➤ General knowledge of aids to navigation systems and nautical publications (such as nautical charts, List of Lights, notices to mariners, etc.);
➤ Knowledge of web software and applications.
