ANTICIPATORY STAFFING
A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established through this process and will be used to staff identical or similar positions with various language (English or French Essential, BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC) and/or security (reliability or secret) requirements across Canada. All federal organizations listed in Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act may use this selection process to appoint a candidate to its organization in an identical or similar position. These positions may be staffed on an indeterminate (appointment or deployment) or temporary basis (term, acting, assignment or secondment).

EDUCATION
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* experience providing strategic advice and recommendations; writing and presenting briefing material to senior management.
EX2: Significant* experience establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships, negotiating and consulting with various internal and external partners and stakeholders.
EX3: Significant* experience planning and managing major engineering projects involving multi-disciplinary teams and various stakeholders.
EX4: Significant* experience managing human and financial resources.
* Significant refers to the depth and breadth of experience associated with the performance of a broad range of related activities which were primarily the candidate’s responsibility. It will be assessed on the basis of the scope, complexity and the diversity of the work performed as well as the autonomy required of the candidate to perform the activities. This level of experience is normally achieved through the performance of relevant duties for a period of approximately three (3) years.

The assessment process:
1) Please apply online. The application process includes assessment questions so please plan to take 2-3 hours to complete the experience assessment that is included in the online application process.
Please also note that your answers to the two (2) text questions will be used to assess the following competencies at the screening stage: create vision and strategy and achieve results. Additionally, the ability to communicate effectively in writing will be assessed using your answers to the screening and the text questions.
2) For those who meet the screening criteria, other assessment tools will be used such as: reference checks, an interview, past performance reviews and/or written exams. If invited to an interview, you will need to provide proof of education at that time.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
