Under general supervision works in a team, Engineering Services Group, to provide analytical instrumentation and calibration support to clients – research scientists, research engineers, technicians/technologists, managers or external contractors on projects funded by government departments, cost-recovery or external stakeholders.
Prepare laboratory apparatus (including flow monitoring and control devices) used in scientific projects and for industrial applications in a research laboratory equipped with air and fuel handling facilities.
Specify, procure and prepare scientific, analytical and control instrumentation in a research laboratory, including computer programming as may be required for data collection control and analysis.
Fabricate, assemble, install, repair and operate apparatus and equipment using a range of tools, equipment and standard.
Install and calibrate a variety of process control systems such as data acquisition systems, process controllers, timers, counters, temperature/pressure transmitters, flow controllers and gas analyzers.

This position is located at the Bells Corners Complex, situated within Ottawa’s Greenbelt, yet close to restaurants and shopping within the area of Bells Corners. Situated between Nepean and Kanata, we are close to the Bayshore bus station as well as the Eagleson/Terry Fox Park and Ride with bus access to the Complex. This location also features trails and walking paths as well as workplace wellness programs including running, fitness and mental health initiatives to boost employee morale and work/life balance.

Successful Completion of post-secondary education in Electronics Engineering Technologist/Technician, Instrumentation and control Engineering, Automation and Robotics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology or another field related to the duties of the position.
• Experience in purchasing, repairing, maintenance, calibration, and commissioning of analytical, electronic or control equipment used in various applications.
• Experience in setting up and operating specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies or systems.
• Experience in using various hand and power tools to calibrate and align system components.
• Experience in maintaining maintenances or repairs records using a commercial software database (MS-Excel, Fiix, or similar packages).
