The Quebec Regional Office is a unit of the Department of Justice Canada that represents the federal Crown in civil litigation cases before the Quebec courts, the Federal Courts and various judicial and administrative bodies. The Aboriginal Litigation team works on class action, Aboriginal and treaty rights, and specific and land claims cases.
The immediate need is to staff 2 indeterminate positions and 2 term positions with the Quebec Regional Office of the Canada's Legal Team / National Litigation Sector.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the Quebec Regional Office in Ottawa, in Quebec City or possibly in Montreal Island on an indeterminate or specified period, with various bilingual linguistic profiles and various security clearances.
The intention of the process is to staff positions in the work locations of the Quebec Regional Office. However management may consider telework on a case by case basis.

EXPERIENCE
- Significant experience of approximatively four (4) years providing legal services as counsel, over a period of approximately two (2) years in aboriginal law* and approximatively two (2) years as litigation counsel **.
* Significant experience providing legal services in aboriginal law as counsel is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties working on legal and/or legal policy matters as counsel over a period of approximately two (2) years;
AND
** Significant experience providing legal services in litigation as counsel is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with performance of the duties working on legal files as litigation counsel over a period of approximately two (2) years.
Various language requirements
Bilingual Imperative CBB/CBB or CCC/CCC.

-Experience in appearing in context of alternative dispute resolution methods

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

-Security clearance: Reliability, Secret, or Top Secret (depending on position).
