POSITION LOCATION:
This position is located in Ottawa; however, the successful candidate may work from one of the OSFI offices across Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver).
As a result of the global pandemic, OSFI employees are currently working from home. Should the current telework environment no longer apply, and contingent on the operating model adopted by OSFI, you may be required to report into and work onsite from one of the following offices: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Vancouver. The Chief of Staff leads and oversees the sector’s Central Operations Team (COT) which acts as the key point of contact for strategic priorities and manages operational activities, to enable the Policy, Innovations, and Stakeholder Affairs (PISA) to better focus on core work. The COT provides support to PISA leadership team by managing and/or contributing to activities that improve on operational effectiveness. The COT is responsible for coordinating the strategic plan and budgets, sector-wide reporting, performance measurement and communication, central office functions and acting as a key contact for divisional and sectoral “asks”.
In this context, the Chief of Staff is responsible for the success of the team, managing human resources, and representing both the COT at sector senior leadership meetings, and sector on the OSFI Planning Group (and other similar bodies).

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
- Graduation with a degree* from a post-secondary institution OR an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.
*The term "degree" refers to a baccalaureate or a higher-level degree, as established by educational authorities.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
- Significant* experience in providing strategic advice, recommendations, and briefings to senior level officials (ADM and above) on complex matters.
- Significant* experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and collaborating with various internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in managing business operations, including human and financial resources, plans, budgets, monitoring, reporting and analysis.
- Significant* experience in providing strategic leadership and direction in the development and implementation of complex initiatives, programs, strategies, or operational service delivery.
*Significant is defined in terms of both depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired by performing the tasks continuously over a minimum period of three (3) years.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in an Assistant Superintendent, Assistant Deputy Minister, Vice President, Chief Executive Office or Deputy Minister Office (or equivalent) in a senior advisory capacity.
- Experience providing advice and guidance in a financial services or regulatory environment.

OSFI is a separate agency with its own classification and compensation system. OSFI's staffing is subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA).
