Duties

Various Office Support positions:
Provide assistance to staff and managers in a wide range of capacities, depending on the needs of the organization and as it relates to a particular work unit. Some positions require working as part of a team and some positions are more autonomous.

The duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Be the first point of contact for telephone calls, email messages, or in person enquiries;
• Receive, register, compile and distribute documents, and correspondence;
• Maintain files, records, databases, control/tracking and other reference systems;
• Make arrangements and ensure follow-up for logistical services (travel and meetings);
• Provide general office support services such as word processing, maintaining the office and filing systems, and ordering office supplies;
• Create contracts and purchase orders for the purchase of goods and services;

Field Communications Officer positions:
The Field Communications Officer (FCO) works rotational shifts within the Operational Communications Centre, a 24-hours a day, 7-days a week operation and may work alone at times. The duties of a FCO includes operating a multi-channel radio dispatch system; clear and concise communication while effectively managing the telephone systems; access and usage of various databases, including CPIC (Canadian Police Information Center); and relaying the results to the individuals working in the field.

As a first point of contact for the Agency, this position responds to internal and external stakeholder inquires and facilitates communication between partner agencies and CBSA operations during emergency situations while following established protocols.
