Assessment accommodation

To be considered for the Research Affiliate Program (RAP), you must meet the following criteria:

• you are a full-time student in a post-secondary institution
• you are enrolled in an academic program that requires research as part of your curriculum
• you meet the minimum age required in the province/territory of work

Duties

The student is expected to be involved in data compilation and quality control, as well as statistical analyses of data (including coding), and preparation of manuscripts.

Work environment

The selected student will analyze scientific data pertaining to consumption of offal by scavenging wildlife to evaluate whether the risk of lead exposure to scavenging wildlife is linked to big-game hunting in Saskatchewan, Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
- The student must be currently enrolled or able to enroll in a Master's Program in the Department of Biology at the University of Saskatchewan, by September 15, 2022.

Degree equivalency

Experiences:
- Experience in biology and conservation sciences, with courses in Wildlife Management, Conservation, and Environmental Assessment is required (completed or in progress).
- Research experience, including laboratory maintenance and engagement with public stakeholders.

English essential

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
- Knowledge related to the use of trail camera data and animal necropsy.

Abilities:
- Ability to write statistical code using R or similar software and to perform analyses of radiographs and trail camera imagery, using software such as, ImageJ and Timelapse, respectively.

The following may be applied / assessed at a later date (may be needed for the job)

Experiences:
- Training or experience deploying trail cameras and classifying images.

Operational Requirements:
- Wilderness first aid training, Animal Care Training, and Biosafety training.
