The Federal Public Service is stronger and most effective when we reflect the diversity of the Canadian population we serve. PPSC is dedicated to building and promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive workforce, representative of Canadian society where everyone feels they belong. All candidates in the area of selection who believe they are qualified are encouraged to apply, including Black, other racialized and Indigenous peoples, women, persons with disabilities and persons of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Set yourself up for success! As the objective of this process is to assess qualifications needed for the position(s) to be staffed, let us know if you have a functional limitation or disability, which may affect your participation. For example, you may contact us if you need assistance in completing and submitting your application. Should you proceed to a future assessment stage, such as an exam or interview, we will send you an e-mail with additional information and you can determine if you may require an accommodation at that time (such as a different test format, an adaptive technology, or additional time). Assessment accommodations are designed to remove the obstacles without altering the criteria being assessed so that candidates with functional limitations can fully demonstrate their abilities.
If you require an accommodation during any phase of this assessment process, please use the Contact information below to request accommodation. All information received in relation to your accommodation will be kept confidential and your right to privacy will be protected.
If you are unable to submit your application before the closing date, please do not hesitate to contact Rachel Gates-Flaherty by email at .
The National Capital Regional Office (NCRO) is responsible for federal prosecutions throughout the National Capital Region. The regional headquarters is in Ottawa, Ontario. The region has four major areas of prosecution focus: drug prosecutions, national security prosecutions, economic crimes, and regulatory prosecutions, including environmental protection, fisheries, and immigration cases.
The NCRO has expanded with the creation of a sub-office in the Kenora district. As a Legal Assistant in the Kenora sub-office, you will be the administrative and legal support to two counsel and will act as a critical member to the good functioning of the office. You will also be working closely with a Paralegal on different legal matters. Your organizational skills, ingenuity and problem solving ability will all be beneficial to the work environment of this office. Not only an integral member of the Kenora team, you will also be a member of the National Capital Regional Office and the Public Prosecution Service of Canada -- organizations built on integrity with a mandate to protect the public. Looking for challenge with purpose? Come join us!
The immediate need is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis in Kenora, Ontario and one (1) position on an indeterminate basis in Ottawa, Ontario.
The Legal Assistant positions are currently classified at the CR-05 level (salary range $55,543 to $60, 130). The PPSC is undergoing a reclassification exercise to change the classification of these positions to AS-01 (salary range $54,878 to $61,379). Depending on the timing of the reclassification exercise, candidates may be appointed at the CR-05 or AS-01 level. Should a candidate be appointed at the CR-05 level, they will be reclassified automatically to the AS-01 level once the exercise is completed.
A list of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates will be established from this process to staff positions in the NCRO, with varying tenures, and varying language requirements according to the position to be staffed. As such, we encourage all employees in the area of selection seeking this type of opportunity to apply.
