The immediate need is to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of English Essential and a RCMP Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM

Education:
A bachelor’s degree (LL.B / LL.L) in common or civil law from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
Experience:
EX1. Experience analyzing complex and voluminous case files such as legislation, regulation, jurisprudence, as well as policies and arguments on issues of a legal nature.
EX2. Experience conducting legal research.
EX3. Experience preparing in-depth reports including the analysis, advice and guidance on legal issues to senior management.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends and variable hours as required to meet operational requirements.
Willingness to travel as and when required.

Knowledge:
K1. Knowledge of legal research principles and practices.
K2. Knowledge of the RCMP Act R.S.C., 1985, c. R-10, the RCMP Regulations 2014, the RCMP Administration Manual XII.2 (Public complaints) and of the Witness Protection Program Act S.C., 1996, c. 15.
Abilities:
A1. Ability to effectively communicate in writing.
A2. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A3. Ability to provide advice and guidance to management on the interpretation and application of legislation and jurisprudence.
A4. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
A5. Ability to analyze complex legal issues and to synthesize findings drawn from jurisprudence.
A6. Ability to present complex findings and recommend appropriate options.
