Duties

A Detachment Support Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) permanent position in Saddle Lake, AB.

A qualified pool of candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on a term and/or permanent basis in Eastern Alberta District within the RCMP. The pool could be used to staff assignments, secondments, deployments, or casual opportunities.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

- Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.
*Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.

Degree equivalency

- Experience providing services to internal and/or external clients over the phone, in person and/or in writing.
- Experience in providing general administrative support in an office setting.
- Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, and/or Adobe.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Qualifications

- Experience working with Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as CPIC and/or PROS.
- Experience liaising with court representatives or officials, or preparing court disclosure packages.
- Experience providing financial support services (services may include, but are not limited to, verifying and correcting financial claims, controlling and monitoring petty cash, preparing financial status reports, etc.).
- Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment.
- Experience providing records management services such as indexing, cross-referencing, filing, retrieving, retaining, archiving and/or destroying data.
