The PhD student will participate in the planning of experiments to answer the research hypothesis. S/he will be responsible for executing the study including wide variety of activities (SNP calling, genomic analysis, GWAS, GEA and associating the results with growth phenology, climate and biomass yields) along with writing scientific manuscripts. The student will present the findings at a national conference/meeting.
The work involves lab, greenhouse & field experiments at the Laval University and AAFC, Indian Head, SK. Occasionally the student will be travelling between two locations for data collection. All student thesis meetings will take virtual via zoom/MS Teams platforms.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by date of appointment in a PhD Program at the Laval University with a specialization: Forest/Plant Sciences, Environment and Natural Resources, or a related field.
*Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to the start date) and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
Experience:
Experience* with plant genetics and genomics, natural sciences.
*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
Various language requirements
Bilingual.
