This position will require full-time presence at the Bells Corners Complex.
Summary of Duties:
Provides advice and guidance on applicable Federal and Provincial health, safety and environmental management legislation, codes and standards.
Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates procedures, programs and safe work practices of the OHS program.
Coordinates and/or delivers health & safety training sessions.
Conducts periodic inspections of the workplace, equipment and materials.

This position is located at the Bells Corners Complex, situated within Ottawa’s Greenbelt, yet close to restaurants and shopping within the area of Bells Corners. Situated between Nepean and Kanata, we are close to the Bayshore bus station as well as the Eagleson/Terry Fox Park and Ride with bus access to the Complex. This location also features trails and walking paths as well as workplace wellness programs including running, fitness and mental health initiatives to boost employee morale and work/life balance.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the field of Occupational Health and Safety.
Experience in providing advice and guidance or administrative support related to occupational health and safety.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)

Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) 2015 regulations
Knowledge of chemical management best practices

Post-secondary degree related to Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification as Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
Experience working in a laboratory or industrial setting
Experience completing risk assessments
Experience in investigating, reporting and monitoring work place accidents or incidents
Experience delivering training sessions

Reliability Status security clearance
Requires access to chemical laboratories, workshops and industrial plant settings in a multi-storey facility without elevator access.
Must be able and willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time including respirator, hardhat, eye and hearing protection
