Intent of the process

The process may be used to staff similar positions with Indigenous Services Canada and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada with various language requirements and profiles, and in various locations in Canada.

All federal organizations listed in the Schedules I, IV and V of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) may use this selection process to staff similar positions in their organization.

Indeterminate employees at the same group and level or equivalent will be considered for deployment. If no deployment is made, applicants from other groups and levels will be considered in the process.

EDUCATION

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

Significant* experience in providing strategic advice, briefings and recommendations to officials or executives at the most senior levels (Director General/Vice-President/Assistant Deputy Minister level or equivalent) on policy or program issues, or both.

Experience in establishing and maintaining productive relationships with key partners including Indigenous organizations or communities.

Significant* experience in providing strategic leadership in the development and delivery of policy, programs or services.

Experience in managing financial** resources.

Significant* experience in managing human*** resources.

NOTES

*Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of activities related to the work, which is normally acquired over a period of at least two (2) years.

**Some examples of managing financial resources may include: full delegation for a budget, being responsible for financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly.

***Some examples of managing human resources may include: supervising staff, establishing a vision, priorities, work plans or establishing work objectives, conducting performance assessments and feedback, approving training, demonstration of experience in managing various service delivery and resources allocation frameworks. Applicants must also indicate the number of staff they have supervised.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
