Duties

Architecture and engineering services (AES) offers a variety of expertise to guide the design, construction and stewardship of federal real property through quality advices, innovation and excellence in centered service delivery on customers. We work in areas including interior design, architecture, heritage building, energy efficiency, electricity, estimating, mechanics, maritime and costal engineering, electronic safety, fire safety, structure and information technologies.

In the field of architecture, a broad range of services are offered, including :

• Advisory and strategic services
• Technical and functional programs
• Design and preparation of plans and specifications
• Construction survey for in house projects
• Evaluation of services proposals and participation on various selection committees
• Feasibility studies and expertise reports
• Quality control
• Setting up general services contracts
• Participation in the analysis of claims
• Maintain regional expertise

Intent of the process

This process' intent is to staff two (2) positions.

A pool of partially-qualified candidates may be created through this process to staff identical or similar positions within Public Services and Procurement Canada, Quebec Region. These positions may be of varying duration, linguistic profiles, security requirements, and/or location depending on specific requirements.

EDUCATION

A degree* in architecture from a recognized post-secondary institution.

*the term “degree” refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

Degree equivalency

AND

PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

Certified as a professional Architect in Canada.

EXPERIENCE

1 - Recent* and significant** experience as an architect in planning (for example needs definition, feasibility studies, expert opinions etc.) and in delivering the design and construction of works of varying complexity and scale related to new buildings and/or renovations, for different classes of buildings.

2 - Recent* and significant** experience as an architect in managing technical and professional services mandates (coordinating and evaluating the work of other speakers) of varying complexity and scale in the field of architecture.

3 - Experience in providing leadership and expert advice.

4 - Recent* and significant** experience in the use of AutoCad software.

* Recent experience means approximately 7 years of experience acquired within the past 10 years as an architect.

** Significant experience will be evaluated on the basis of the duration, scale, complexity and diversity of the work performed and the level of participation in diverse activities, direct responsibility for a wide variety of jobs or projects delivered.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

1 -Experience in developing or delivering projects based on the requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating system or FitWell.

2 - Experience in using one of the following software : Revit, Sketchup, Navisworks, BIM Track, Bim360.

3 - Hold a LEED Canada certification

2 - Hold a license to practice from the Ordre des architectes du Québec.

N.B. Prior to his or her appointment, the successful candidate must be an accredited architect in the province of Quebec.
