As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.
Magnetic surveys are one of the most cost effective methods for geological mapping and mineral exploration. For this reason, magnetic surveys are widely used by federal and provincial governmental agencies as well as the private sector. The proposed project offers new strategies to improve the resolution of existing airborne magnetic data. The improvement of magnetic data resolution will highly contribute to more robust geological interpretations. Not only the decisions made by geologists regarding mineral exploration will be improved and more cost effective, but resulting high resolution magnetic datasets will be trained for a vast range of AI algorithms applications in geoscience.
The PhD candidate will work on geophysical data preparation including airborne magnetic data. She/He will also investigate and implement different deep learning algorithms including neural networks, convolutional neural networks, Variational Autoencoder and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) on airborne magnetic images. This student will also test the generalization of the developed workflow to different regions with airborne magnetic dataset available
The intention is to staff one student position for the completion of a PhD -
