Update: Suspension of vaccination requirement

Small Craft Harbours (SCH) is a nationwide program of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, which operates and maintains a network of harbours in support of the needs of the commercial fishing industry. The mandate of SCH is to keep the harbours that are critical to the fishing industry open and in good repair. The program is delivered in cooperation with Harbour Authorities (local not-for-profit organizations) who manage the harbours.
The Project Design Technologist provides technical input in terms of design and layout options and sketches to the project planning process, and technical services to support the design, tendering and construction phases of all types of projects, with particular emphasis on the production of tender-ready drawings and specifications for minor to major projects.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate (permanent) position. A pool of qualified candidates will also be created and may be used to staff future vacancies on an indeterminate and/or temporary basis in Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

EDUCATION
◼ Graduation from a diploma or degree program (minimum two academic years) from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in civil engineering, construction engineering, construction, civil, architectural technology or some other engineering specialty with a focus on computer-aided drafting, specifically AutoCAD.
EXPERIENCE:
◼ Experience in the delivery of AutoCAD drawings and design services.
◼ Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
◼ Experience in transmitting communicative instructions from different multidisciplinary teams to a drawing or visual presentation.
◼ Experience in producing engineering sketches, concept drawings or visual presentations to facilitate communication to stakeholders.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
◼ Experience in the service delivery of technical support, opinion and advice in engineering in support of construction, maintenance or repair of, or portions of, civil or marine infrastructures.
◼ Experience using PSPC CAD standards and/or Drafting standards.
◼ Experience interpreting engineering drawings and/or technical specifications and/or legal surveys and/or topographic and/or hydrographic surveys.
◼ Experience developing tables, queries and reports.
◼ Experience in project management.
