Information Technology is looking for driven & independent individual to fill a new role on our team – the IT Technician, IT Security. If you are motivated and interested in an exciting opportunity to provide Technical support in the development, implementation, integration and maintenance of IT security solutions to protect the integrity of departmental/agency IT assets in support of service delivery to internal or external clients, and stakeholders, we encourage you to apply.
Key activities of the role include:
• Create and update security related policy and processes.
• Provides technical support in the development, integration, implementation and maintenance of IT security solutions.
• Investigates, troubleshoots, resolves and documents technical problems with IT security solutions and refers problems to the next level of support as required. Assists in the provision of IT security support services.
• Provides technical support in the monitoring and technical analysis of IT security risks, threats, incidents affecting departmental/agency IT assets and assists with the support and delivery of IT security solutions.
• Participates in analyzing, defining and documenting client requirements and responding to client service requests.
• Produces basic system documentation, reports and correspondence.
• Conducts research to support the development of departmental/agency standards and guidelines.

Please note: as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are primarily working remotely for the time being. Education:
The minimum standard is:
• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, IT security, information technology, or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. Asset Qualifications:
• Experience Investigating IT security incidents, recommends proactive measures and implements corrective action.
• Experience in assessing security solutions and providing recommendations to development team and stakeholders.
• Experience in developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating security controls such as business continuity, secure communications, and/or security event management.
• Experience working with M365 security
• Experience in creating Harmonized Threat and Risk Assessment (HTRA)
• Experience working within a IT security team environment.
• Knowledge of network and physical security.
Operational Requirements:
• Candidates may be required to work overtime on short notice with appropriate compensation from time to time.

• Secret Security Clearance
