EDUCATION
ED1: Successful completion of a Secondary School Diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

CERTIFICATION
CE1: Building Environmental Systems Operator Class II Certificate or a valid Interprovincial Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate.

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience in the operation and maintenance of a major scientific research facility or other institution with mechanical, electrical, fire protection and energy management systems.
EX2: Experience in the operation and maintenance of a gas fired hot water heating plant with computerized controls and steam sterilizing units.
EX3: Experience in the operation and maintenance of refrigeration systems, HVAC equipment and standby generators.
EX4: Experience in the safe operation and repair of a variety of shop tools such as welding and pipe threading machines, band, table and chop saws and drill press.

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of the operation, maintenance and repair of a gas fired hot water heating plant, refrigeration units (both gaseous and liquefied components), and re-circulation systems.
K2: Knowledge of energy conservation measures, heat recovery systems and energy management systems.
K3: Knowledge of the applicable maintenance procedures to overhaul and maintain all HVAC systems and auxiliary equipment.

ABILITIES
A1: Ability to trouble-shoot various types of equipment within the facility and effect the repairs.
A2: Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
A3: Ability to interpret data outputs, graphical displays, printouts and maintain operating records.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
