EC-06 Senior Policy Advisor
Plans, co-ordinates and leads project teams in the conduct of policy research and analyses. Formulates recommendations concerning the development and implementation of policies, programs, and legislation/regulations.
EC-07 Program or Policy Manager
Conceptualizes, manages and directs development and implementation of policies, programs and/or legislation/regulation involving high-priority issues. Defines objectives, scope, subject matter and priorities, and determines the approaches, terms of reference and resource requirements. Manages a team.
Responsibilities and duties may vary depending on the position to be staffed.

EDUCATION
For both EC-06 and EC-07 levels
ED1. Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with an acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, or statistics.
Note: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
For the EC-06 level
EC-06 – E1: Experience conducting research and analysis related to environmental, natural resources management, or other complex issues*.
* Complex is defined as multifaceted, multi-dimensional issues e.g., multiple clients, multiple jurisdictions.
EC-06 – E2: Experience providing briefings, strategic advice, and recommendations to decision-makers.
EC-06 – E3: Experience working with other individuals in policy or program development and implementation.
EC-06 – E4: Experience collaborating and coordinating with partners including other federal government departments/agencies, provinces and territories, Indigenous peoples, industry, municipalities, non-government organizations, or academics.
For the EC-07 level
EC-07 – E5: Experience leading or coordinating research, analysis, and the development of policy options related to environmental, natural resources management, or other complex issues*.

EC-07 – E6: Experience preparing documents such as briefing notes, or presentations on strategic policy issues or initiatives.
