Assessment accommodation

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site.  This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring.  Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Work environment

The Stoney Nakoda Nation is located about 30 minutes W of Cochrane, Alberta on Highway 1 with beautiful vistas of the Rocky Mountains. Home to over 5500 people, the Stoney Nakoda Nation is situated on Treaty #7 lands and consists of three Nakoda Nations; Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley. Many residents of the Stoney Nakoda Nation live in or near the reserve settlement of Mini Thni (Morley, AB), at the junction of Highway 1a and Mini Thni Road. Stoney Nakoda RCMP is currently operating out of a storefront location in Mini Thni as part of a pilot project however the community is in the planning stages of building a stand-alone detachment. At this time, the storefront location houses approximately 11 members and 2 support staff supervised out of Cochrane Detachment. This location also provides policing services to the Kananaskis area S on Highway 40 from Highway 1. This location is a busy, fast-paced progressive policing environment.

Intent of the process

This process will initially be used to staff one position on an indeterminate basis, and create a pool of qualified candidates. This pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.
