On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.
As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) offers a stimulating work environment with a passionate team and support work-private life balance. The GSC's Quebec City regional office is located at 490 de la Couronne Street, in the heart of a vibrant neighbourhood and is a French-speaking office. The building is close to restaurants, parks, walking and running trails, etc. Employees have access to amenities such as showers, locker rooms, a gym and a secure bike room, allowing them to enjoy activities year round.
The position is located in Quebec City. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is currently possible to carry out the tasks by telecommuting. Once the pandemic situation is over, the candidate must be available to perform his/her duties at the office at 490 de la Couronne, Quebec City.
The intent of this selection process is to staff one (1) position on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of (fully or partially qualified) candidates will be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the IT-03 group and level within Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or permanent), various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential, or Bilingual), linguistic requirements (imperative and/or non-imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability status or Secret clearance), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

Education
The minimum standard is:
• Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.
Experience:
• Significant* experience in applications and data architecture.
• Significant* experience in the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including analysis, design, development and testing, implementation, documentation, and evaluation.
• Recent** experience in analyzing requirements, designing IT solutions, and making recommendations to management.
*Significant is defined as the breadth and depth of experience associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities over a period of at least 3 years.
** Recent is defined as being within the last two (2) years.

• Experience implementing and securing IM/IT applications, software or databases in a cloud environment.
• Experience providing technical expertise in the architecture and design of cloud solutions.
• Experience with relational database modeling and SQL.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies (user stories, sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, sprint reviews, daily scrums, or backlog grooming).
• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker).
• Experience with javascript
• Experience in web development
• Experience with machine learning/AI
• Recent experience in the maintenance of a system running on Linux.

HOW TO APPLY:
You will be required to answer screening questions to demonstrate how you meet the Essential Qualifications (Education and all Essential Experiences).
