Intent of the process

Anticipatory. The immediate need is to staff 1 temporary opportunity. A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar term, and/or permanent positions with various tenures (Indeterminate, Acting, Term, Deployment, Assignment, Secondment.)

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
-Completion of a post secondary program in Building Systems Technology or in a field related to the position from a recognized post secondary institution (Attestation, Certificate, Diploma) or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the position (i.e.: heating, ventilation systems).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
-Experience with the operation and maintenance of Building Structures and HVAC systems.
-Experience with materials and equipment used in the maintenance of facilities.
-Experience using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
-Experience performing inspections and keeping records.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience:
-5th Class Power Engineer Interprovincial Certificate.

Degree equivalency

-Knowledge of regulations and codes relating to building operations.

-Knowledge of basic plumbing/mechanical maintenance.

Operational Requirements:
-Willing to work outdoors, including work in inclement weather and cold, wet or hot environments.
-Willing to work in confined spaces and areas requiring fall protection equipment.
-Willingness to drive snow removal equipment.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

-Possession of a valid class 5 or better driver's license.
-Be able to report to work within short notice (ie: 60 mins).
-Must be legal to work in the United States of America and Canada for the Coutts AB border crossing.
-Willingness and ability to work overtime (including weekends) and to accept an on-call 24/7 on a standby rotational schedule.
-Physically capable of climbing up and down ladders and in and out of confined spaces.
-Ability to lift or move heavy objects up to 25 kg while practicing proper safety procedures.
