Duties

Specifically, the student will work on a study of the impact of advanced transformation processes on the extraction and techno-functional, nutritional and bio-functional properties of Canadian green lentil proteins. The work will consist in preparing experimental procedures, undertaking experimental work, analyzing results, and writing theses and scientific papers. The student will be co-supervised by the researcher and trained and accompanied by research associates and professionals.

Work environment

The Saint-Hyacinthe Research and Development Centre, Quebec, is part of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s (AAFC) network of 20 research centres. The Centre is dedicated to research and development of methods for preserving food and maintaining its quality, as well as the safe and efficient processing of food. It also conducts research on food ingredients that promote health and provide other benefits, beyond their basic nutritional value. The Centre’s core research areas are aligned with national priorities, helping the sector adapt and remain competitive in national and international markets. Increased participation in research networks and industry-led partnerships expands the Centre’s capacity for innovation.

Experimental work will be conducted at the Saint-Hyacinthe Research and Development Centre, which has modern state-of-the art research facilities. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to develop valuable scientific and cutting-edge research skills, while gaining exposure and developing professional relations that will benefit them as they pursue their career.

Education:
Currently registered or eligible to register before the appointment date in a Master’s Program at Laval University with a specialization in Food Sciences or another related field.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience* in planning and conducting laboratory research work.
