Education and transcripts
Having co-op experience, experience with DNA extraction, amplification and quantification in preparation for DNA sequencing is essential
Bioinformatics and statistics skills for microbial community analysis are considered as an asset
Candidate will also be involved in preparing sediment samples for geochemical analyses including total and extractable metals, anions and measuring dissolved inorganic carbon and CH4 flux
Note: In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the
studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
Field sampling (lake sediments), setting up the experiment in the lab, working with an anaerobic chamber and gas chromatography, environmental nucleic acid analyses, next-generation DNA sequencing, geochemical analyses of sediment samples

A keen interest in learning new lab and bioinformatics skills. I will teach you what I know and offer resources, but I expect students to be motivated and work independently in this area.
