Duties

The User Experience and Engagement Sector is comprised of three branches: Programs and Engagement; Research and Access; and Communications and Policy. The Director General of Communications and Policy leads the following components: corporate communications, strategic policy and inclusion. He or she provides visionary leadership to deliver plans and products that promote awareness and understanding of Canada's documentary heritage, and implements solutions aligned with the evolving role of memory institutions and the user needs.

More specifically, he or she leads the development and implementation of LAC's communication plans and products, as well as the development and implementation of policy instruments. He or she provides assertive leadership in order to ensure ongoing internal dialogue, foster a spirit of collaboration, and support LAC's commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. He or she maintains a network of government partners (PCO, JUS, etc.) in order to ensure coordination and monitoring of the public environment.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff the Director General, Communications and Policy within the User Experience and Engagement Sector on a permanent full-time basis. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process at the EX-02 group and level.

EDUCATION:

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a field of study related to the position to be field.

*Significant experience is defined as the depth, breadth and diversity of experience normally acquired through performing a broad range of various and complex activities.

**Significant financial matters may include: full delegation and being responsible for financial planning, budget allocation, resource management, forecasting and reporting. / Complex human resources may include: supervision of staff; establishing vision, priorities, work plans or performance objectives; conducting performance assessments and providing feedback.
