Intent of the process

A pool of qualified leaders will be established that can be used to staff the following positions as they become available within the CCG Atlantic Region. Other positions could be added over time:

► Superintendent, Aids to Navigation
► Superintendent, Icebreaking
► Superintendent, Search and Rescue
► Superintendent, Environmental Response
► Superintendent, Vessels of Concern
► Superintendent, Maritime and Civil Infrastructure
► Superintendent, Marine Engineering
► Superintendent, Electronics and Informatics
► Superintendent, Technical Management
► Superintendent, Regional Operation Center
► Superintendent, Operational business
► Superintendent, Marine
► Manager, Indigenous Relations and Partnerships
► Manager, Strategic Services Unit
► Manager, CCG Safety & Security

The above positions are primarily located in either St. John’s, Newfoundland or Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. However, you may be able to work from another location in the CCG Atlantic Region. This will be determined objectively prior to a position being staffed. Consequently, we encourage all candidates interested in working within the CCG Atlantic Region to apply.

The following are the common qualifications required for all leadership positions listed above:

► A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives
► Experience in human resource management, such as, but not limited to, assigning work, monitoring progress, managing labour relations cases, managing and assessing performance, developing and implementing training and staffing plans.
► Experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations on complex and sensitive program or policy issues.
► Experience in the management of financial resources, such as, but not limited to, establishing, managing, allocating and being accountable for a budget within a program.

► Part 2: Assessment of Key Leadership Competencies

The assessment of the Key Leadership Competencies will be conducted in two stages, an online test followed by an interview. The online test will be completed through Evaluation Personnel Selection International (EPSI), a specialized third party service provider. Interviews will be conducted using a third-party platform called VidCruiter.

► Part 3: Questionnaire

If we have determined that you meet the common essential experience factors and Key Leadership Competencies, you will be provided with instructions on how to complete an online questionnaire (link to follow). The questionnaire will provide you with additional information about each of the leadership roles within the CCG Atlantic Region. If you are interested in any of these roles, you will be required to elaborate on how you meet the position specific requirements, in terms of your experience, education, and occupational certifications.


► Part 4: Pool of Leaders Established

You will be notified if you meet the common requirements for these leadership opportunities within the CCG Atlantic Region. A hiring manager may be in contact with you directly to discuss your qualifications for their vacancy. Qualifications deemed necessary for a specific opportunity could require further assessment (i.e. an interview), without these qualifications having been initially posted on the poster.
