Duties

In support of the wheat breeding programs, the incumbent will assist in the production of doubled haploid wheat plants in field, laboratory and greenhouse work environments. The work includes preparing culture media; preparation of reagents; transfer of plant materials using sterile technique; emasculating and pollinating florets; rearing, monitoring and caring for plants in growth facilities; applying treatments to plants and keeping accurate records; plant and transplanting; care and maintenance of equipment and facilities; identifying plants/seeds using identification tools; contributing to developing methods of crop production and the development of knowledge and technology related to cereal crop production. The incumbent will work with people within the team towards maintaining a safe environment with which to accomplish assignments. The completion of this work will require the incumbent to be able to sustain physically demanding work in varying work environments especially during the growing season.
