The successful candidate will join a diverse team of researchers in AAFC to examine soil surface residue cover and soil roughness at different times using various remote sensing technologies, and based on which to analyze the impacts of different soil management practices on soil residue cover, soil surface roughness and soil loss due to wind, water and tillage erosion. Duties of the successful candidate include field data collection with various remote sensing techniques, as well as downloading, converting and analyzing remote sensing data to find the major trends and patterns, linking it to field practices and erosion events for data interpretation.
The student will be working on a field site located near the Brandon Research and Development Centre (BEDC) in Brandon, Manitoba. Local science team in BRDC will supply with all necessary field tools and consumables and will provide guidance and assistance with the field work.

Education:
Currently enrolled or willing to be enrolled by May 31, 2022 in a Master’s or Doctorate’s program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in: remote sensing, soil science, agri-environmental sciences or a close related field.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled and must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term
Experience:
Experience * in remote sensing, soil or agri-environment related field work.
Experience * in scientific data analysis.
* In the context of student recruitment in the federal public service, experience can be acquired through studies, work experience and volunteer activities.
