EDUCATION:
EEd1: Successful completion of an acceptable post-secondary educational program with specialization in chemistry or biochemistry OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
EEx1. Practical experience in planning, developing, or performing protein detection and protein quantification assays.
EEx2. Practical experience in the validation or assessment of immunochemical techniques, such as ELISA (Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), for the trace analysis of proteins in biological tissues or food.
EEx3. Practical experience in the operation, calibration and maintenance of instrumentation used in quantitative immunochemical techniques such as ELISA.
EEx4. Experience in sample purification techniques for the analysis of proteins in complex matrices. These could include, but are not limited to, chromatographic techniques such as gel electrophoresis, C18, or antibody separation methods.

EK1. Knowledge of the fundamental theories and techniques in developing and optimizing immunological based assays (ELISA).
EK2. Knowledge of proteins or protein separation.
EK3. Knowledge of method validation using single-lab or inter-laboratory collaborative studies.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEx1. Experience in the preparation of proteins and peptide mixtures for analysis by mass-spectrometry methods.

AEx3. Experience in maintaining laboratory operations to ensure quality control according to the ISO 17025 standards.
ASSET KNOWLEDGE:
AK1. Knowledge of protein and peptide identification using mass spectrometry.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able and willing to work with various substances, including hazardous chemicals.
- Must be able and willing to stand while performing certain procedures for portions of the day.
- Must be able to move and handle various size gas cylinders.
- Must be able for prolonged periods to maintain attention and perform dextrous tasks during all aspects of analytical work to prevent contamination and produce accurate results.
