Experience growing or maintaining plant species in the field, growth chamber or greenhouse.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in plant science, biology, natural resources or agriculture.
Experience with basic computer software, including word processors, spreadsheets, email, software for storage and manipulation of data.
Experience in the collection and handling of plant and soil sample materials from field, growth chamber or greenhouse.
Experience identifying and evaluating crop pests.
Experience in running pest management field crop trials.
Experience conducting pest surveys.
Experience crossing or greenhouse plant maintenance.
Experience with basic molecular skills like DNA extraction, PCR, cloning, etc.
Experience with tissue culture techniques (for example microspore culture or embryo rescue).
Experience culturing microorganisms.
Experience operating research plot equipment or operating farm equipment (e.g. seeding, harvesting equipment or other equipment on research farms).
Experience operating specialized computer software or programs for statistical analysis (e.g. SAS, SPSS, Climex, Dymex).

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
