The Farm Operations Foreman :
Sets priorities, directs and coordinates crop group activities and general services as well as the individuals working in the garage.
Trains and explains the work to employees.
Gives instructions on work safety, ensures compliance with safe work practices. Complete accident/injury reports.
Manages the use of fields totalling 400 ha (1,000 acres), participates in designing the cropping plan and installs and maintains he fences.
Manages the budget for cropping operations, tractor maintenance, agricultural equipment and road maintenance.
Manages the maintenance of tractors and agricultural equipment and farm road maintenance.
Works closely with researchers and other departments to meet their needs in forage and feed grain.
Evaluates his or her employees’ performance.
Schedules, coordinates and directs sub-contractors’ activities in cropping, forestry, excavation, road maintenance and repairs to tractors and equipment.
Plans and prepares programs for maintenance, modification and innovation for tractors and agricultural equipment and tracks expenses against the budget.
Orders inventory and ensures that it is stored.
Collaborates in the preparation of estimates for suppliers and entrepreneurs to ensure the compliance of materials and work, and that deadlines are met.
Registers, produces and records field yields and the inputs applied to the fields.
Takes and prepares the manure, liquid manure, soil, hay, silage and grain samples for analysis in the lab and reporting.

Post-secondary education completed in agriculture (at the collegiate level) or significant experience.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status.
