Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to staff future indeterminate and/or temporary AS-02 positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Federal Policing Support Services in Edmonton, Alberta. In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and/or considered: acting, assignment, deployment, secondment or term appointment.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM. EDUCATION

• A secondary school diploma, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience*.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

• Experience organizing and coordinating administrative arrangements and schedules for middle and/or senior management.

• Experience compiling information and preparing various correspondence and reports for middle and/or senior management.

• Experience in maintaining a records management system.

• Experience in applying policies, procedures and guidelines applicable to finance and administration (i.e. hospitality, travel, financial coding structure).

• Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

EXPERIENCE

• Experience using TEAM/SAP.

• Experience providing administrative support services in a law enforcement, judicial or quasi-judicial environment.

• Experience maintaining a law enforcement database such as: Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Information Retrieval Systems (PIRS), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS), Automated Criminal Intelligence Information System (ACIIS), National Criminal Data Bank (NCDB).

• Experience using and maintaining a database.

• Experience creating and maintaining classified, confidential or protected files.

• Experience researching, analyzing and summarizing information.

• Experience supervising employees.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Willing and able to work overtime as required.

• Willing and able to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation, including owned or leased government transport, commercial and light aircraft, and up to and including remote locations.

• Willing and able to maintain a valid drivers license, or have personal mobility to the degree normally associated with a driver’s license.

Conditions of employment

• RCMP security clearance.

Candidates may be assessed using one or more of the following tools: standardized tests, written exam, interview, simulation exercise and reference checks.

Volume Management strategies may be used.
