The Classification Advisor is responsible for the delivery of a complete range of operational classification services to the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). The Classification Advisor:
• Delivers operational classification services by managing assigned files and classification projects. Services include (but not limited to): job description writing, job evaluation, organizational analysis, relativity studies, and the resolution of sensitive issues.
• Provides classification advice, options, guidance, and recommendations to HR Advisors and clients on classification issues.
• Participates on HR projects and initiatives and contributes to the development of classification policies, processes, procedures, and guidelines.
• Researches and analyzes trends and identifies potential issues, prepares draft analyses, briefing notes, reports, and presentations.
• Supports organizational restructuring and re-alignments at all stages including the assessment and implementation.
FCAC is a small separate agency established by the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada Act and subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). We are seeking to staff one (1) indeterminate (permanent) position.
This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
E1 Experience in reviewing or writing job descriptions;
E2 Experience in job evaluation; and,
E3 Recent and significant* experience in providing advice and guidance to managers on classification issues.
* Recent refers to the experience normally associated with the performance of the duties in the last five (5) years.
** Significant will be evaluated in terms of depth and breadth of activities, complexity and diversity of work performed, and level of autonomy. This is normally associated with having performed a broad range of activities, and normally acquired over a period of approximately two (2) years or more.
AE1 Certification OR accreditation in classification
AE2 Certificate in Hay Methodology (EX or Non-EX)
AE3 Experience in applying the Hay Evaluation method for job evaluation including drafting classification rationales for executive or non-executive level positions.
AE4 Experience writing documents for management, such as reports, presentations and briefing notes
AE5 Experience in organizational design.
