Work environment

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

A qualified pool will be established and may be used for future permanent or temporary vacancies (including term, acting, or assignment).

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Experience:
1. *Recent and **significant experience in material management such as receiving, shipping, distribution, storage and replenishment of goods in a warehouse environment.
2. Experience in utilizing software programs related to inventory control.
3. Experience in operating warehouse handling equipment such as fork lift and pallet jack.
4. *Recent experience operating a computer in a windows environment using word processing software.

*Recent experience is defined as the performance of duties within the last 5 years.
**Significant experience refers to the depth and breadth of relevant experience acquired via the performance of duties for 1 year over the past 5 years.

Experience:
1. Experience working in a parts supply or parts inventory environment.
2. Experience working in a policing environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Willingness and ability to lift/move heavy boxes and equipment weighing up to 40 kg.
2. Willingness to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
3. Willingness to learn and work in the safe handling, storage and transportation of firearms (Chilliwack location only).

Conditions of employment

Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
Occasional requirement to lift, carry and move items up to 40 kg.
Medical clearance (as applicable to the position).

Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Please note that within the context of this selection process, travel costs/expenses will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.

Any information provided by a candidate through their application or assessment that is deemed to be incorrect or fraudulent will be eliminated from further consideration.

Experience qualifications will be assessed upon application. Further confirmation or assessment may be conducted through reference checks.

On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (https://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=32694), federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. Should you reach the point in the selection process where it is necessary to verify terms and conditions of employment then the hiring manager or a human resources representative will contact you in order to complete an attestation.

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
