As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. The requirement for employees to be fully vaccinated applies whether they are teleworking, working remotely or working on-site. This is a condition of employment and it applies to indeterminate (permanent), determinate (term), casual, and student hiring. The position will be co-located at Edmonton, the University of Alberta, and will work with beef cattle during major cattle events at the Roy Berg Kinsella Research Ranch (https://rri.ualberta.ca/about-us/our-facilities/roy-berg-kinsella-research-ranch/) which is a highly dynamic research environment. This position will work with a team of researchers, rancher manager and staff, and industry partners, and need to meet a high standard of productivity within both the AAFC and University of Alberta.
Immediate need: 1 full-time permanent position in Edmonton (Alberta).
A pool of qualified and/or partially qualified candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions on a temporary or permanent basis.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Experience managing and analyzing phenotypic data (i.e. livestock performance records) resulting from experimental treatments using MS Excel.
Experience in cattle husbandry and handling.
MSc. from a recognized post-secondary institution in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Animal Science or related field.
Experience managing and analyzing phenotypic data (livestock performance records) resulting from experimental treatments using a variety of software (i.e. R or SAS).
Experience working with animal blood, semen, hair, or tissues in a molecular biology laboratory.
