Assessment accommodation

You must submit a complete application, consisting of a résumé as well as responses to screening questions which clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience factors listed under the essential qualifications, as well as any of the asset qualifications that apply to you.

For each experience criterion, please provide concrete examples including the following information:

1. Name of the department or organization where the experience was acquired;
2. Title of the position occupied and duration (including dates) for which you exercised the functions;
3. Specific details of tasks, projects, or accomplishments demonstrating how the experience was acquired.

The screening questions will be used as the primary tool in the screening process and the résumé will be used to substantiate the information provided. Applications that do not clearly demonstrate how the screening criteria are met will be eliminated from consideration.

Intent of the process

The intent of this inventory is to create a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff future positions with Transport Canada, in the National Capital Region (various tenures, various linguistic profiles, various security requirements and various conditions of employment or operational requirements).

✈ EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

OR

✈ OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
Eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position.

✈ EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* and recent** experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in-service support or airworthiness of aeronautical products.

Definitions:
*Significant is defined as having 5 or more years of engineering experience whilst progressively acquiring increased responsibilities related to engineering in the aeronautical industry.

**Recent experience is defined as within the last 10 years.

✈ ASSET EXPERIENCE:

AEX1: Extensive* experience in the design, development, testing, certification, in-service support or airworthiness of aeronautical products.
AEX2: Experience in managing or evaluating inputs related to the identification, evaluation and rectification of in-service airworthiness problems or airworthiness risk management.
AEX3: Experience in project management within a technical environment.
AEX4: Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of rotorcraft, or general aviation aircraft.
AEX5: Engineering experience related to engineering in the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of aircraft engines or aircraft powerplant installations.
AEX6: Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of avionics or electrical systems.
AEX7: Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of aircraft fuel and hydromechanical systems.
AEX8: Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of aircraft structures.
AEX9: Engineering experience related to the design, development, testing, in-service support or certification of occupant safety related design features.

Secret security clearance - This factor is not used at the pre selection stage. The hiring department is responsible for the security clearance process.

◦ What does "Registered in the inventory" mean?
Once your application has been successfully submitted to the inventory, your status may be: "Date of disclosure of results: Listed in the inventory". This is an automatically generated message by the system and it means that your application is available to be considered. You will be contacted if you are to be further assessed (exam/interview).

◦ My personal information has changed, what should I do?
Simply update your information in the "Personal Information" section in the "My Job File" menu of your account. This will allow us to have your current contact information and ensure adequate follow-up in the event that your application is considered as part of this inventory.

◦ What is the retest period?
The retest period for re-assessment within the context of this inventory is one (1) year from the date of elimination from the process. Candidates who resubmit an application to this inventory process before the retest period has elapsed, will not be considered.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
