On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced details of its plans to require vaccination across the federal public service.

As per the new Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration Including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, federal public servants in the Core Public Administration and members of the RCMP must attest to their vaccination status. Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet the essential, education and experience factors listed by answering the screening questions. Candidates should write concrete examples demonstrating how they meet the experience and education requirements.

It is NOT sufficient to only state that the qualifications are met or to provide a listing of current or past responsibilities. The answers to the screening questions / requirements will be the main source of information used by the assessment board to determine whether you meet the essential, asset, education and experience factors. This anticipatory process will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles at Transport Canada.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
ED1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology, or statistics.

Note: Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
EX1: Experience in using database management software (e.g., SAS, SQL Server, Oracle, Access, R, Excel).

EX2: Experience in using statistical analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Stata, E-Views, R, SAS, MATLAB)

EX3: Experience in conducting analyses which use economic or statistical theory and quantitative methods.

EX4: Experience in report writing (e.g., thesis, research project, or term paper).

Knowledge:
KN1: Knowledge of statistical analysis methods.

Competencies:

Abilities:
AB1: Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

Education:

AEX1: Experience using geographic information system software (e.g., TransCAD, ESRI, Mapinfo).

AEX2: Experience using computer programming languages (e.g., Java, VBA, C/C#, Python, SQL).

Operational Requirements:
Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
