The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.

IMS' Mission is to provide CSC with the efficient and effective IM/IT services it requires to continually expand our capabilities to delivery improved business value.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within the Information Management Services Branch, the Policy Sector, and the Correctional Operations and Programs Sector of Correctional Service of Canada across the country, with various linguistic profiles and/or requirements, various security clearance levels, as well as various tenures, according to the position being staffed.
What makes this inventory different from other job advertisements?

EDUCATION
Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized postsecondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.
Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. We may assess the essential and asset qualifications using interviews, written tests (take home assignments or other), references or a combination of these or other assessment methods. ► Application Services (AS)
• Takes those sector partners needs identified through business relationship management that are considered ‘run and grow’ business and individual user requests;
• Designs, develops, configures and/or tests solutions, including data design to meet partner expectations; and
• Manages releases and technology change management for all operational solutions.
► Business Transformation and Innovation (BTI)
• Configures, adapts, develops and maintains software solutions;
• Supports or develops foundational solution architectures to use as templates on private or public Cloud; and
• Adds BTI/Business Relationship Management (BRM) essential experience from BRM Staffing processes.
► Enterprise and Client Services (ECS)
National Headquarters:
• Supports service delivery for end user in all CSC regions and at National Headquarters;
• Provides national service desk support, desktop and computing device management;
• Supports service management including incident, request, asset, and change management processes;
• Delivers training, support and data quality services for offender based applications; and
• Works in partnership with Shared Services Canada to support CSC infrastructure needs.
Regions:
• Supports IT Client Service delivery to staff at National and Regional Headquarters, Federal Correctional Institutions, Community Offices and external partners across Canada;
• Provides desktop support on various networks including; Corporate, Operational Technology, and Offender networks;
• Provides national service desk support, desktop and computing device management; and
• Maintains a productive relationship with Shared Services Canada in support of CSC's infrastructure needs.
► Enterprise Architecture (EA)
• Interprets Government of Canada policies and directives, gathers data from the enterprise, and keeps current with industry standards to inform the development of architectural domains, target and reference architectures, guidance and standards, and to inform strategic planning activities;
• Advises projects on proposed architectures and offers guidance and advice on project proposals to governance bodies and ultimately the Enterprise Architectural Review Board (EARB); and
• Manages the Application Portfolio Management (APM) Program gathering data about the application portfolio to make recommendations for strategic initiatives.
► Enterprise Data and Information Management (EDIM)
• Develops and maintains data and information strategies aligned to the Government of Canada direction;
• Provides the processes, governance, policies and standards to ensure the security and safekeeping of CSC information; and
• Supports the effective management of information (records, documents, etc.) with the right capabilities and resources.
► IMS Strategic Planning (ISP)
• Gathers data from Business Relationship Management (BRM); aligns IM/IT human and financial resources to operational and strategic plans;
• Creates, maintains and manages effective program and project delivery methodologies and processes;
• Leads CSC IT Software Licensing requests approval process; liaise with internal stakeholders; liaise with other departments’ procurement teams; and
• Manages IT Cloud Brokering requests; liaises with Shared Services Canada Cloud Brokering teams.
► IT Security (ITSEC)
• Provides advice and guidance on IT security policies, standards and best practices;
• Conducts Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) activities as it relates to on-boarding applications to the CSC corporate network;
• Monitors departmental computing environments, investigates security incidents, oversees proactive measures and implements corrective actions; conducts technical research, participates in cyber event analysis; provides guidance, to clients following approved IT security standards and procedures; and
• Develops, provides and maintains security documentation.
► Performance Measurement and Management Reports (PMMR)
• Provides specialized technical advice, guidance and support in the maintenance of CSC’s corporate performance measurement and management reporting under the Policy Sector;
• Planning, design, development and implementation of data definitions, logic models, software and database solutions on various technology platforms;
• Consults with technical staff, program specialists, subject matter experts and clients to interpret government and CSC policies, standards, guidelines and data in order define, develop and support corporate data definitions and standards; and
• Leads or participates in project teams and working groups composed of technical staff, program specialists, subject matter experts and clients to facilitate the development, testing, implementation, maintenance and resolution of issues related to departmental/agency software and database management solutions.
Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
